The original owner of The Water Garden spent most of his young life going fishing and would spend hours by the river banks.
Later in life he turned to the hobby of keeping fish, building his first small pond and filling it with goldfish and other cold-water fish, only for the heron to devour the lot. Not being deterred he visited the local fish outlet and there he discovered Koi and this progressed into building a larger pond, deep enough to house larger Koi.
After visiting koi outlets around the UK over the next 10 years talking to koi dealers and gaining the experience and knowledge of keeping these colourful fish. Then the opportunity arose to go to Japan visiting the Koi dealers there buying a variety of fish, some being of jumbo size. This is when the hobby changed into a business “Cranford Koi”
In 1991 the business was launched from home and 2 years later it was moved to premises at Nene Court, Wellingborough. The business grew over the next 5 years and in 1998 the opportunity arose to move and build a purpose built Koi outlet with the new name ‘The Water Garden’.
After 25 years successful years the owner of the family run business has retired passing it to a family member who had been the Manager for the past 12 years. Having gained the knowledge and experience of operating a unique service for the pond keeper but also for those who love the sound of water in the garden.
The business has now moved back to Nene Court Wellingborough where you will still receive the individual service and experience from the new owner.
